The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) December report of U.S. Tractor and Combine Sales...
U.S. Ag Tractor Unit Sales Positive in February
All U.S. tractor segments were positive in February according to the latest data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
Total farm tractor sales grew 9.2 percent for the month of February compared to 2021, while U.S. self-propelled combine sales for the month inched up 3.1 percent. The 100+ horsepower 2WD segment once again led all segments with a 27.9 percent jump, followed by the sub-40 horsepower 2WD segment up 8.1 percent. Mid-range tractors between 40 and 100 horsepower climbed 7.1 percent, reversing last month’s decline, while 4WD tractors were nearly flat, climbing only 0.6 percent. Combine sales were higher in February 2022 by 3.1 percent compared to the same month a year earlier. However, sales of combines were down 25.6 percent due overwhelmingly to lack of supply/availability.
Editor’s Take:
This is another positive month for ag tractor and combine sales, up overall in the U.S. Strength in the commodities markets is continuing to drive a lot of the sales growth, evidenced by the continued growth in bigger row crop units. And, with fuel prices seeming to be on their way up for the foreseeable future, it’s possible even more farmers will want to get in on the efficiencies that new equipment has to offer. Demand continues to be very strong while supply is limited for some wholegoods, as well as parts. This report reminds us that farmers have money and will purchase equipment and new trucks! It’s best not to wait, get in on the action now! Also, be sure you mention AgPack and all the money farmers/ranchers can save when they purchase or lease a qualifying new or used vehicle from you.
