Tractor and Combine Sales Heat Up in August

Hot August weather outside and hot ag equipment sales inside! Not a single down category for either year-to-date or comparing August 2020 to same month sales in 2021. For the month, sales for over 100 HP 2WD tractors were up 37.8% and 4WD tractors outpaced that by increasing 40.4%. Combine sales were up almost 20% in August.

Year-to-date figures are almost as impressive with over 100 HP 2WD tractors up 26.8%, 4WD tractors up 38.5% and combines increased 13.8%. Smaller tractor sales YTD were also up with 40 – 100 HP 2WD increasing over 14%, followed by up to 40 HP improving by 11.6% so far this year.

U.S. combine and tractor sales are like the Energizer bunny, they just keep going and going. If you are an ag equipment OEM or dealer, life doesn’t get much better than this – “Next in line to order please”! Your CAD team hopes this news is repetitive enough that the message becomes top-of-mind awareness – farmers are buying equipment! They are in a positive mood overall! AND, they have money to spend! Guess what? They also love new trucks! With 2021 shaping up to be a pretty darn good year financially, farmers will be out to lower their tax burden. You may have some inventory issues right now, but you might want to think beyond the current situation to what happens as things “normalize”. Who is a prime candidate for your truck sales at that point?
