Net export sales of U.S. corn got a major boost from Japanese buyers in late December. Japanese customers committed to buy 385,800 metric tons of U.S. corn for delivery in the 2021-22 marketing year, helping push total U.S. sales to Japan to more than 1.2 million tons.
Japanese buyers also purchased 60,000 tons for delivery in the 2022-23 marketing year, which doesn’t begin until September 1, 2022.
The U.S. also shipped 278,300 tons to Mexico and 277,000 tons to China.
EDITOR’S TAKE:
It is wonderful news to see such vibrant activity in the corn export market. Exports account for a significant percentage of overall sales of corn. Every additional ton sold simply means more money in the pockets of corn farmers. These additional dollars could be available for a new truck, or perhaps two! If you are not actively connecting to the farmers/ranchers in your area, you’re likely missing a huge opportunity to sell more trucks in 2022.
