January Large Tractor & Combine Sales Impressive

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) recently released their sales report for January 2023. As expected, sales of smaller tractors of 100 HP or less were down for the first month of the year. However, sales of 4WD tractors were only down 2.2%, due in large part to lack of availability. Sales of 100+HP tractors, on the other hand, which are more readily available, were up 22.8% compared to a year ago. And, wait for it - sales of combines (big ticket item) were up an astounding 132.7% compared to a year earlier and year-to-date.

Sales of smaller tractors, those under 100 HP, used primarily by hobby farms and large property owners, were down significantly.
