CEO of the National Pork Board Discusses Pork Profitability in 2025

The CEO of the National Pork Board says the U.S. pork industry turned a corner in 2024. Bill Even says, “2022-2023 was very difficult for our producers financially. We just had really large cost increases due to inflation, and then high feed input costs. It just really pushed our producers under water financially.”

He says producers are keeping a close eye on feed costs in 2025. “We’re very sensitive to feed costs. We also recognize that people growing corn and soybeans need to make a living too. Hopefully, the market finds a happy medium. We’re always interested in long-range partnerships with corn and soybean growers as well.”

Even says hog markets have held up surprisingly well which has helped improve profitability for producers.

EDITOR’S TAKE:

Good news for pork producers. It’s nice to hear that they have turned a corner on profitability and 2025 will be a better year. But not unlike many other farmers/ranchers, they are very concerned about input costs. Yes, the cost of feed is one they are concerned about, but interest rates and fertilizer costs, etc. are still high on their radar screen as well. They will certainly be interested in what happens to the newly imposed tariffs that could impact pork exports to Canada and Mexico, in particular. However, you can help! Be sure to make them aware of AgPack® to help them lower those operating costs by taking advantage of the numerous exclusive rebates and discounts on farm/ranch products offered by your phenomenal AgPack® partners! Also, be sure to mention CADFI that will match their payment schedule to their cash flow.
