According to the latest report from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) sales of large tractors and combines were up once again in July. Both the month-to-month comparison with July 2022 and 2023 and the year-to-date figures show strong growth. The only down sales were in the smaller, two-wheel drive categories (less than 40 HP) and 40 – 100 HP -- down approximately 6%, respectively. Sales of 100+ HP 2WD tractors were up 0.3% month-over-month and 7.7% YTD. The 4WD tractor category was up 1.2% month-over-month and 36.2% YTD. Combine sales topped all categories with 10.6% growth month-over-month and a whopping 41.2% growth YTD.
EDITOR’S TAKE:
Sometimes one just has to wonder, how long can sales continue to increase for these larger, more expensive tractors and combines. Folks, we’re talking major money for a 4WD tractor and even more for a combine with a couple of headers. Farmers/ranchers have money and continue to invest in their operations. It’s obvious they want that new combine in place before harvest begins. They will also be on the lookout for a new truck or two between now and harvest or perhaps immediately after harvest. Farmers and ranchers need dependability, as reliability is especially key at the busiest times of the year.
Now is the time to run that pre-harvest special on AgTruckTrader.com. Don’t forget to mention AgPack®, which will sweeten the deal with up to $30,000 in special rebates and discounts. Most importantly, it doesn’t cost you a dime to offer those extra perks!
