According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, sales of all categories of agricultural equipment were up year-to-date (January through November). The 2WD tractor category increased by 11.2% with 100+ HP tractors leading the way, up 23.4%. For the 4WD category, sales were up by 17.1%. Combine sales were up considerably, increasing by 25% so far this year.
Comparing sales in November 2021 to the same month in 2020, only the 4WD category experienced a decrease. Otherwise, all categories were up significantly. Sales of combines were up a whopping 37.8% for the month.

There is no doubt, farmers are stocking up for 2022. As we have pointed out previously, combines are expensive and the fact that they are selling like hotcakes is a testament to how much money farmers are investing in their future. Are you actively targeting farmers in your area? If not, you might re-consider what priority you place on farmers in your marketing plans.

You can also have an even larger impact by considering there are roughly 6 million trucks on American farms and ranches that need parts and service. Just because inventory may be light at the moment, entice farmers with specials on parts and service. Tell them to keep you in mind when they are looking for that new truck purchase or lease.
