The funding was held up by the Department of Government Efficiency over a week ago but was released.  The program, which helps businesses use targeted grants to grow and develop new products had 420 grant applicants in limbo nationwide.  Overall, 28.6 million dollars in promised reimbursements were held up by the Trump administration.  Congressman Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) issued a statement saying, “I am thrilled that USDA has resumed DBI Initiatives funding, which is crucial to the success and well-being of Wisconsin’s dairy industry. Our dairy farmers and processors work incredibly hard, and I commend Secretary Rollins for her swift action to ensure its continuation.” EDITOR’S TAKE: Typically, we only hear about stopping federal funding so we thought this news was worth sharing. In this instance, the funding was reviewed and found to be worthwhile. Many times, this type of funding does in fact lead to exciting new products that become commercially viable. In turn, such markets ultimately benefit U.S. dairy farmers. By now you know the drill – more markets, more demand, more income! Dairy farmers use plenty of trucks in their operations.
